Carl Smith, 76, died at 4 p.m. Thursd ay at his home here (Waveland) after a long illness.  Mr. Smith was a memb er of F& AM Lodge 300 and the American Legion of Waveland.  He was a Veter an of WWI.  He last worked for the State Highway. A Parke County nativ e, he was born 10 Sept. 1892 son of Joe & Allie (Lang) Smith.  He was marr ied at Rockville 21 July 1919 to Hazel Morgan.  Surviving are two daughter s, Mrs. Fred Bazzani and Miss Hulda Smith of Waveland, a brother, Claren ce of Alamo, 3 grandchildren and a great grandchild.  he was preceded in d eath by a daugther, three brothers, and two sisters.  Funeral services wi ll be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, at Machledt & Servies Funeral Home he re with Rev. Herb Sweringen officiating.  Internment will be at Maple Rid ge Cemetery.  Friends may call after 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday for Carl Smith at the Machledt a nd Servies Funeral Home in Waveland with Re.v Herbert Swearingen officiati ng.  Serving as pallbearers and assisting with the flowers were Earl Bowma n, Raymond Moore, Fred Myers, William Shular and WIlliam Search.  The Raym ond Todd Post 323 conducted military services with Taps played by Airman H ugh McCalment and Edwin Armstrong.  Bur. in Maple Ridge cem.
