Funeral services were held in Sheridan, Mich., Friday, Nov. 27, for Mrs. Anna Smith, 82, a native of Montgomery County, who died Nov. 23 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Earl Kniffen, in Detroit, Mich., after a long illness. Burial was in Entrican Cemetery. Mrs. Smith was born on July 25, 1882, the daughter of John and Rebecca Hightower. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burton Smith; a son, Clair; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Etta Wilson and Elviria Hightower, and a brother, William Hightower. Survivors include a son, Willard Smith of Sheridan, Mich.; two daughters, Mrs. James Ballanger of Bradenton, Fla., and Mrs. Kniffen; seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. Ben Zeigler of Crawfordsville; three brothers, Thomas Hightower of Hillsboro, Kelsey Hightower of Crawfordsville and Alfred Hightower of Wingate, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Zeigler attended her sister's funeral along with Robert Harrison and son, Gerald.
