The Journal last Friday contained an account of the accidental shooting of Dan Smith, the 15 year old son of Daniel Smith, who resides several miles southwest of the city. The boy had just left the house to go hunting, when in some manner the gun was discharged tearing off the lower part of his face. It was thought at first that he would recover, but it has since developed that a number of the shot penetrated the brain and Dr. Talbot reports that his death is a question only of a day or so. The boy was one of the most promising lads in the neighborhood. His parents are utterly prostrated by the terrible calamity. - thanks to S
