Mrs. Sarah Evaline Smith, 91, widow of Arch Smith died Sunday night in her home 2 and 1/2 Mi. SW of Alamo. She had been ill since last August 20. Born March 28, 1864, in Fountain County, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of Henry Melinda Fine Krout. She married Arch Smith March 11, 1886. The husband died in 1935. They were married at Covington. Mrs. Smith was a resident of the Wallace community most of her life. Surviving are four children, Bessie Smith of near Alamo, Eston Smith of near Wallace, Hughston Smith of near Clarks Hill and Loren Smith of Springfield, Ohio; four grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and 3 nephews, Ora and Jesse Krout, both of Crawfordsville and Virgil Krout of Alamo. The surviving grandchildren are Delbert Smith; Evelyn Lawler; Mary Bol and Kent Smith. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wed. at the Wallace Lutheran Church followed by burial at Wallace Lutheran Cemetery The body will lie in state at the Church prior to the services. Friends may call at the family home, Rev. Allan Keiffer will be the officiating minister. - kbz
