Mrs. Leora Utterback, 86, died at 6:30 a.m. Thursday at her home 203 E. College Street. She had been in failing health 4 years. She was born Dec 11, 1878 at HIllsboro daughter of Henry G. and Mary M. Coffing Petro. At age 7, she went to live with her aunt and uncle, Harrison and Margaret Coffing Breaks, in the Breaks neighborhood. She was married Feb 23, 1898 to Fred C. utterback. They farmed in the ELmdale community until 1923 when they moved to Waynetown and operated a restaurant there for many years. In 1946, Mr. and Mrs. Utterback moved to Crawfordsville where they had charge of the Ben Hur Home. Mrs. Utterback was a member of the Trinity Methodsit Church in Crawfordsville and Athens Chapter No 97 of Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Gretchen Swank Minnick of Veedersburg and Mrs. Dorothy Meyer of Bloomington; a son Thomas W. Utterback at home; two grandsons John W. Utterback of Ft. Wayne and Fred L. Myers of Bloomington; two granddaughters, Mrs. Mareia Watts of London and Mrs. Margaret Mishler of Bloomington and 9 great grandchildren.  Her husband preceded her in death Dec 2, 1955. Mrs. Utterback was also preceded in death by a son, Harold, two infant sons, one infant daughter and an infant grandson, Rex. Funeral services will be held at Bright Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Guy Tremaine in charge. Burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday.
