Sam Vail died Thursday, Jan. 9, at 6 o'clock after a seven week's illness of paralysis. He was sixty-six years old, having been born and raised in Ohio. About 45 years ago he moved to Crawfordsville, where for the last twenty-five years at least he has been the driver and proprietor of a dray. His faithful wife proceeded him to the grave about two years ago, and none are left to mourn his loss excepting his daughter, Esther. He was distantly related to Enoch Smith and to George and Newt Vail, north of the city. As long as Sam Vail lived here no one ever knew him to be dishonest, or anything but strictly upright in all his dealings. The funeral occurred Saturday at the residence on East College street at 10 o'clock.- Kim H
