Chester T. Van Cleave, 90, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2008. He is survived by his sons, Don Van Cleave of Albuquerque, John Van Cleave and wife, Robbyn of Rio Rancho, and Joe Van Cleave and wife, Andrea of Albuquerque; and sister, Patricia Snepenger and husband, Joe of Colorado Springs, CO. Chester was born at the Van Cleave homestead on the east mesa of Albuquerque on August 8, 1917. He attended Albuquerque High School and was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Army Air Corps in the North African and Italian Campaigns. He later served his country in a career with the Defense Atomic Support Agency and Defense Nuclear Agency. Chester was a dedicated, loving father and friend and will always be remembered for the interesting stories he would recount of life in and around Albuquerque, and his experiences in WWII. With his passing Albuquerque has lost one of its true sons. Services will be held Monday, February 18, 2008, 1:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel.
