Wingate, Oct. 24th -- James VanCleave, well known resident of Wingate, passed away at his home here today at 3:30 o'clock following a several months' illness from paralysis. Mr. VanCleave was 57 years of age and was in the employ of the Crabbs Reynolds, Taylor Co. of Crawfordsville. He was born in Brown Twp and had been ill about six months. One son, Leslie, by a former marriage, survives besides the widow and one daughter, Lodema, 13 years of age. The mother, three brothers, George VanCleave of Chicago, Henry VanCleave of Lawrence, Ind and Jonathan VanCleave of Wingate, and 3 sisters, Mrs. S. C. Moore of Wingate, Mrs. Levi Coons of Crawforsville and Mrs. Stillman Goff of Elmdale, also survive. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Methodist Church in Wingate. Interment will be made in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery mr. V. was a member of the Methodist Church and was formerly a carpenter. - kbz
