Jonathan "Jont" VanCleave, 90, died at 4:30 a.m. Thursday at the Ben Hur Nursing Home. He had been a patient there two yeares and seriously ill one month. Prior to living at the nursing home, Mr. VanCleave made his home with a niece and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. John Smith, at 411 S. Walnut Street in Crawfordsville. Born Feb 5, 1880, near New Market, he was the son of Ransom and Sarah Surface VanCleave. He was educated in Montgomery County schools and was a farmer most of his life. He never married. Mr. VanCleave was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church in Browns Valley. He was preceded in death by five sisters and seven brothers. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Reeves Funeral Home in New Market. Burial will be in Indian Creek Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday. - kbz
