Source: Crawfordsville Weekly Journal Friday, 20 April 1900

Caroline Brown Vanscoyoc was born Sept. 12, 1813, in Hamilton County, Ohio. She was the daughter of Ephriam and Eunice Gard Brown. She married Godfrey Vanscoyoc Oct. 28, 1832 at the age of nineteen. To them were born eight children, three of whom survive, viz: Stephen M. Vanscoyoc, Juliette Linn, and Ann Eliza Crain.

Her husband died Oct. 1, 1882, they having lived together over forty nine years. She died April 15, 1900, having outlived her husband 17 years, 6 months and 14 days. She united with the Christian Church at Ladoga in 1858, and has ever been a member of that denomination. She was 86 years, 7 months and 3 days old at the time of her death, and had lived on the farm where she died since 1841. It can be truthfully said she was a kind and loving wife and mother, always having a kind word for everyone.
The funeral service took place from Walnut Chapel Tuesday morning at 10:30, conducted by Rev. H. C. Riley and interment was in the Shiloh Cemetery. -s
