Alma Mae CLOUSER

Sunday, November 5 1916 Miss Alma Mae Clouser, passed away at 11 a.m. after an illness of 12 weeks of untold agonies, with chorea or St. Vitus Dance. She was the second daughter and third child of Chesley W. and Melissa Clouser. She was born April 24, 1897 and departed this life Nov 5, 1916, Aged 19 years 6 months 11 days. She leaves father, mother, one sister, Mrs. Hazel Rogers two brother, Fred and Daniel at home; one little niece Helen Rogers, an aged grandfather, uncles, aunts and brother-in-law, besides a large circle of other relatives and friends to mourn their loss. Her beautiful character was a shining star in the community and one which will be missed so much for she always had a kind word and sweet smile for all whom she would meet. As a christian her life from childhood to womanhood was an example for those around her. Not a murmur was heard during her long illness. Alma will long be remembered by her noble deeds and kind acts toward others. She united with the St. James Evangetlic Lutheran Church Oct 15, 1911 and was confirmed by E.P. Conrad pastor. She died a consistent member almost faultless, a true follower of the blessed Master. She was always happy while working for Him. Blessed are they who die in the Lord. The funeral services were held at Lutheran Church two miles east of Darlington, Wednesday Nov 8 at 11 a.m. conducted by Rev. Stroup her pastor. The remains were laid to rest in Greenlawn cemetery 1.2 miles east of Darlington.

Miss Alma Clouser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chesley Clouser who live 5 miles east of here died at her home at 11 o'clock Sunday. She had been very ill the past 12 weeks and death came to the girl after she had been in a stupor since Wednesday. She had suffered greatly with spinal affliction, and death came and relieved her. She was but 19 years of age. Miss Clouser last year attended Bower's HS and was well liked there. She is survived by her parents and two brothesr, Fred and Daniel who lived at home and a sister, Mrs. Hazel Rogers of near Bowers. She is also survived by many relatives near Bowers & Darlington. The funeral was held from the Lutheran Church, Wednesday morning at 11 and the services were in charge of Rev. Stoup.
