Source: Waveland Independent, Friday May 31, 1901

James Conway, an old resident of this place died at his home in the north part of town Saturday afternoon. For some months he has been sick with consumption and for the last few weeks has been at the point of death. The body was taken to Lafayette Tuesday morning and laid at rest in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery after funeral services at St. Mary's church conducted by Rev. Father Dinnan. Mr. Conway was born in Ireland about 53 years ago. He came to this country in 1867 settling at Lafayette where he had a brother living. May 10, 1874 he married Mary Fitzgibbons and in the fall of the same year moved to Waveland where he has since resided. To this marriage were born John, Michael, Kate, James, Mary and Daniel, all of whom with the wife survive. His father and one sister are living in Ireland. He was for many years a trusted employee of the TH&I Road. -- typed by kbz
