ARMANTROUT

Source: Weekly Argus News, Crawfordsville, Montgomery County, Indiana Oct 22, 1898 p 4

The Armantrout family had a reunion at the residence of Henry Armantrout on the 8th inst, at which some 50 of the relatives were present. From Ravenden Springs, Ark came Mrs. Amanda Armantrout, widow of Joshua N, formerly auditor of this county, and from Montgomery County and points in Clinton came others. The gathering of this old and well known family was a notable as well as pleasant event, the Armantrouts being among the oldest settler sof this county - American Standard

The ancestors of the Armantrout family came from Germany; sailed from Rotterdam, Holland, via Cowles, England. Landed at Philadelphia, PA in 1747 and in 1750 removed to Rockingham County, VA. From there they removed to different places until now they are well scattered over the US. The next reunion will be held at Crawfordsville in 1912 as that has been the custom to alternate with Frankfort. The officers for next year are: Pres: Albert Armantrout; VP, JD Armantrout; Sec, Mrs. Ethel Armantrout and Historian Miss Clara V. Armantrout.
