The descendants of Mrs. Mary E. Edwards to the number of seventy-one held a reunion Sunday at the old homestead three miles east of town on the Indianapolis road. Grandma Edwards has lived in the house over forty years and it is now occupied by Vincent Smith. The children of Mrs. Edwards in the order of their age are as follows:

Mrs. John Line, with three children and four grandchildren. Note: This is Sarah

James Edwards, with eight children and eight grandchildren.

Charles Edwards, with twelve children and eight grandchildren.

Mrs. Vincent Smith, with three children and one grandchild.

Mrs. J. L. Smith with two children, and

Curtis Edwards with four children.

The day was also the 85th anniversary of Grandma Edwards. The reunion lasted all day and was one continual feast of good cheer with a feast of more substantial things in the middle of the day. A photograph of the crowd was taken by Willis & McQuown, thus providing each one with a souvenir of the occasion. - thanks to Kim H

Monday, Sept. 26, was the 87th birthday of Mary Edwards. A birthday dinner and family reunion was given at the home of her son, J. G. Edwards, of Lebanon. Grandma Edwards came from Butler County, Ohio, to Montgomery County with her husband in the early 50’s and settled on a farm two miles east of Crawfordsville, where she still makes her home with a daughter, Mrs. Vincent Smith. Her husband died in the fall of 1868. She has six children, J. G. Edwards of Lebanon, Charles and Curtis Edwards, Mrs. John Line, Mrs. Vincent Smith and Mrs. Eliza Smith, all living near the old homestead. There are thirty four grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren. All were present except the family of Charles Edwards. All join in wishing grandma many more birthdays and a peaceful old age.
