Elenor Abernathy Flannigan was born in Butler County, VA in 1803 and removed with her parents to Ross County, Ohio in 1808.  In 1825 she united her fortune with Samuel Flannigan and came to this then virgin wilderness and settled upon the home where she yet resides, one mile east of Darlington on land patented by her husband under the administration of James Monroe. A week ago last Tuesday there was a happy surprise and family reunion, there being present 70 persons, including five married daughters and two daughter-in-laws, and 30 grandchildren.  When Mrs. F. settled here there was no Darlington and but two cabins between theirs and Crawfordsville. Her husband died in 1849 and left her with nine grandchildren who lived to man and womanhood and respectable.
