GLENN FAMILY REUNIONS

Source: Crawfordsville Star, May 16, 1878 p 4

The most enjoyable affair which we have been permitted to attend for some time was a re-union of the Glenn family, to celebrate the 73d birthday of the mother, Martha Glenn at the old family homestead about 3 miles north of Waveland on Sunday, May 12th. The family, consisting of 21 children, with a few friends, arrived about 11 o'clock with over loaded baskets. A general good time was enjoyed by all till about 2 o'clock when the door of the dining room was thrown open and guests invited to a table which, if it could have expressed its feeling would have groaned under the unmerciful load placed upon it. After invoking the Divine blessing, the meal was partaken of with a relish that showed the weakness of mankind after good things. At the close of the meal we were all conducted into a large reception room: when each one presented the hostess with some emblem of love and respect, all of which were received with many thanks by Mrs. Glenn. That she may live to enjoy many more such days of happiness is the wish of her friends  -- transcribed by kbz
