Perkins/Moore

RR Conductors

Our local conductors, Samuel Moore and Thomas Perkins, were tendered a reception by their fellow employees in Indianapolis a few days ago. The Times say: "Thomas H. Perkins and Samuel Moore, vet. passenger conductors of the Pa. rr, were honored this afternoon by more than 60 fellow employees with a reception and party at the Union Station. Perkins has completed 50 years service and Moore 49 Sunday night. JT Ridgely, Superintendent of the Indainapolis division, presented Perkins with a gold button and Moore with a certificate. Walter J. Behmer, assistant trainmaster, gave a short talk and Paul A. Kriese, special agent for the Southwestern general division, was in charge of the affair. Perkins entered the service as a water boy on the old TH & L RR, April 1, 1878. He was made a brakeman 1881, and conductor Dec 22, 1884. He became a passenger conductor June 1894 and is a charter member of the Pa RR Vet. Employees Association and for awhile was Pres. of the former So. Bend Division Asociation. He lives at Terre Haute."
