Hi! I'm trying to locate more information about the siblings of John W. Williams, a physician from Highland or Clinton County, Ohio (16 Jan 1847- 5 Feb 1913) who died in Galena, Cherokee Co., KS. A Civil War veteran, John's pension record at the National Archives mentions his brother, Daniel Williams, aged 62, living at Foresman, Newton Co., IN, in 1913. Also a sister, Maggie Richardson (no age given), living at Brook, Newton Co., IN in 1913. Does anyone have access to a county history or cemetery book to see if these two appear. Thanks for your help! Richard Cochran (rcochran@exit109.com) 1332 Sabrina Court, Brick, NJ 08724

I am interested in a family: Albert & Nellie ? Cleveringa and their seven or so children. They had a farm in Lake Village - and should be in the cemetery at Lake Village. They may have come about 1900 or just after that - from Chicago. I would appreciate any information that might be available from any source: census, death, birth, or marriage records, cemetery inventories, etc. Thanks John Dryfhout

I am looking for information on a Reason HOWELL. I know that he married a Mary HELMICK at Shelby County, Ohio in 1846, and he is listed in the LaPorte County 1860 Census, age being listed then as 43. Mary died in Morocco, Indiana in 1901, and was listed then as a widow. We do not know anything about Reason between the 1860 census listing and when his widow died. He may have lived in the Porter County area between those years. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I am looking for any and all descendants of George and Maria E. Meadows. Maria's maiden name was Hamman. They were married in Newton County on January 19,1866. They lived their entire lives in Morocco Indiana. They had five children: Luellen Jane (my great grandmother), Margaret who married into Mr. Dowling, Richard, Arch and Harry. George died on may 26, 1923. I have two dozen or so family pictures which I believe are of the Meadows. I am happy to share these with any one who can help identify them.

Seeking information relating to JOSEPH M. JAMES,aka JOSEPH MCALISTER JAMES of Goodland, Newton Co. Indiana, post Civil War. This father of MARION FRANCIS JAMES, aka FRANCIS MARION JAMES built Goodland's Central Hotel which burned in the fire of 1884. The 30 room hotel was built in 1869 and was described as "the first building of any consequence put up in the town." JOSEPH MCALISTER JAMES also purchased considerable land adjoining the town and laid out all the lots on East James Street from Union to Benton streets, and south to the site of the old tile factory, where a picturesque pond exists today. Many of the oak and walnut trees in this area were planted by him from saplings taken from the Iroquois River. Prior to the Civil War JOSEPH M. JAMES started to free his slaves in Kentucky. Those who wished not to leave the family he brought to Goodland to work on his farm there as hired hands. JOSPEH MCALISTER JAMES was married to MARGARET WOOD. His son MARION FRANCIS JAMES was married to NANCY ANGLEINE LOGAN.
