Hattie (Helmer) Snyder

Mrs. Hattie Helmer Snyder was born at Geneva, Ohio, Jan. 28, 1860, and died at Corunna, Nov. 9, 1899, aged 39 years, 8 months and 11 days. When a girl of five years she united with the Presbyterian church, of which she remained a member until she united with the Church of Christ at Corunna. She obeyed her Savior in baptism, in 1892, and remained faithful until her departure from this life. She was united in marriage to George A. Lipsett, Nov. 14, 1882. To this union were born two children, Jay K. and Bertha E. Lipsett. On Jan. 22, 1896, she was united in holy matrimony to Dr. F. Snyder. To this union was born one son, little Herbert Lester Snyder. She leaves to mourn her death a father and mother, John and Ann Helmer, a brother, a husband and three children, besides a host of friends. For years she earnestly endeavored to live a consistent, Christian life. As a wife she was dutiful and as a mother loving and tender. Her career was a triumph religiously, and her memory is a bright monument of the sweetest virtues and most enduring accomplishments. Her bright, cheerful disposition won the affection of all who knew her. The whole community will mourn her death, the church loses a faithful member by her death, but we believe heaven is the richer. She will be missed in the church, in society, but most seriously by her aged parents, her husband and children. A light has gone out of the home once lightened by her presence, to illuminate the palace of her God. Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord. The funeral was held from the Christian church in Corunna and was attended by a large number of sorrowing friends and sympathizing neighbors. The discourse was delivered by Rev. John J. Higgs. The interment was at the cemetery one mile south of the village.
