Come on in and make yourself at home. My name is John Minneman and I am the person responsible for Ohio County. I hope you enjoy your time here, and that it provides some information of benefit. If you have information that you would like to share, please let me know. If you would like to volunteer to host a county in Indiana, please contact John Peck, our state coordinator. or one of our Assistant State Coordinators Lena Harper or Jeff Kemp.
History of INGenWeb!
In June, 1996, a group of genealogists organized the Indiana Comprehensive Genealogy Database. The idea was to provide a single entry point for all counties in Indiana, where collected databases would be stored. In addition, databases would be indexed and cross-linked, so that even if an individual were found in more than one county, they could be located in the index.
At the same time, volunteers were found who were willing to coordinate the collection of databases and generally oversee the contents of the web page.
