I am not related to Inice HOLLEN or James DAVIS and have no interest in the outcome of this claim. Q: How long have you lived here? A: In 1919, I came back here from the Army, lived here a few years, then went to Indianapolis and worked there 10 years or so then came back here about 18 years ago. In fact, I was born here and, with the exception of my time in the Army and my ten years in Indianapolis, have spent my entire life in this house. Q: How far was the HOLLEN home from your home? A: About a mile. Q: When did you first meet Inice HOLLEN and James DAVIS? A: I knew Inice when she was married to HOLLEN and I have known DAVIS since we were in school together as children. Q: Did you ever visit in the community before you returned to live here? A: We came down a couple times between 1934 and 1936 and stayed in this house two weeks at a time and we met the DAVIS' then. My wife and I, that is. Q: When were you married? A: On April 23, 1934. Q: Before that, did you come down here yourself? A: Yes I came down from time to time all the time I was in Indianapolis, to see my father, who lived about a half mile up the road. Q: Did you have occasion to see or visit Jim DAVIS in his home? A: No I never visited him in his home. Sometimes I met him on the road. He was always walking. Q: Did he during the years 1929 thru 1936 ever work for you or your father? A: I know he didn't work for me. I don't think he worked for my father. Q: Do you know of his having worked during that time for anyone else? A: I don't know. Q: Do you have any knowledge as to how he supported his family during those years? A: I don't know. I suppose he worked. Q: How about after 1936? A: He worked out, a little, and he farmed a little. Q: After 1936, did Woodrow ever live there? A: Yes, he came to stay a few days at a time. I suppose he was working somewhere. He changed jobs whenever they ran out, and farm jobs keep running out. He was there at the time he went into service. Q: I have no further questions. Do you have anything to add? A: No. I am a WW I veteran, C-540 183.
