Enlisted
on 16 April 1943 at Louisville, Kentucky. Served with the Twentieth Air Force in
the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.While Station at Kharagpur, India was awarded the
Soldier's Medal for Heroism while refueling an aircraft it caught fire and Wayne
run to the fire and drove the truck away from the blazing airplane his prompt
