ENTERED SERVICE ON 24 JUNE 1942 AT LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY. DISCHARGED NOVEMBER, 1945. REPORTED ABOARD THE USS TAYLOR DD-468, A FLETCHER CLASS DESTROYER ON 17 DECEMBER 1942. ASSIGNED TO THE PACIFIC FLEET OPERATING AT GUADALCANAL, SOLOMON ISLANDS, GILBERT, MARSHALL ISLANDS, NEW GUINEA AND LEYTE GULF, PHILIPPINE ISLANDS. 12 JULY 1943 SANK JAPANESE SUBMARINE I-25. AWARDED THE NAVY UNIT COMMENDATION FOR THE OPERATIONS. EARNED 15 BATTLE STARS. RATING OF SIGNALMAN THIRD CLASS PETTY OFFICER.
