Enlisted 18 June 1943 at Louisville, Kentucky. Served with the 7th Infantry Regiment 3rd Infantry Division in the North African Theater Italy. Taken prisoner of war by the German army on 30 January 1944 near Anzio, Italy. Held at Stalag 2b Hammersten 99 work camp Koslin Stolp, west Prussia 53-17. Until 16 June 1945.
