Enlisted on 12 June 1940 at Fort Knox. Kentucky. Served with the 5th Infantry Division, 2nd Infantry Regiment in February 1942 sent to Iceland. July 1944 landed in Normandy, France assigned to the Third United States Army. December 1944 went into the Battle of the Bulge. Moved in January 1945 to Nideranven, Luxembourg and on to cross the Sauer River and attack the Siegfried Line. Crossed the Rhine River near Oppenheim and spearheaded the attack into Czechoslovakia. Was at Volary at cease fire.
