Enlisted 7 October 1940 at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Served with the 81st Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron, 1st Armored Division in the North African Theater Battle of Kasserine Pass. Capture by the German Army on 20 February 1943 held at Stalag 2b a force labor camp at Hammerstein, West Prussia until 26 May 1945. Discharged on 15 September 1945.
