Enlisted on 27 October 1941 at Louisville, Kentucky. Served with the 168th Infantry Regiment Company E 34th Infantry Division. "The Red Bulls" Served in Tunisia, North Africa. Was captured by the German Army at Sidi Bou Zid, Tunisia on 17 February 1943. Held in Prisoner of War camp Stalag 2B Hammerstein 99 work camp west Prussia until 30 January 1945.Treatment was said to be worse of any camp in Germany.
