Enlisted
24 September 1943 at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. Served with the 29th
Infantry Division 115th Infantry Regiment in the European Theater. Landed on
D-day 6 June 1944 Omaha Fox Green Beach from LCI's. After fighting off the beach
on to take Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer. Wounded in action in July 1944. Awarded the
Purple Heart Medal and Presidential Distinguished Unit Citation for Gallantry in
action 6 June 1944.
