Enlisted on 12 May 1941 at Louisville, Kentucky. Served with the 6th Engineer Special Brigade in the European Theater. Unit was formed 15 May 1944 in England. Participated in the invasion of Normandy Omaha Beach and operated it until Christmas Eve 1944. Moved to Verdun, France on 1 January 1945 and remained there until 14 July 1945.
