ENLISTED ON 11 DECEMBER 1943 AT LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY. REPORTED ABOARD THE USS CLEVELAND CL-55 ON 28 APRIL 1944. PARTICIPATED IN THE MARIANAS OPERATION AND BATTLE OF THE PHILIPPINE SEA JUNE TO SEPTEMBER 1944. OCTOBER 1944 PARTICIPATED IN THE INVASION OF PALAU ISLANDS AND RETURNED TO THE UNITED STATES FOR OVERHAUL. ARRIVED AT SUBIC BAY, PHILIPPINE ISLANDS 9 FEBRUARY 1945. 13-14 FEBRUARY BOMBARDED CORREGIDOR. CONTINUED TO SUPPORT OPERATIONS IN THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS UNTIL 7 JUNE 1945. 15 JUNE 1945 AT MANILA, EMBARKED GENERAL OF THE ARMY DOUGLAS MACARTHUR AND STAFF TO OBSERVE ASSAULT AT BALIKPAPAN. ARRIVED AT OKINAWA ON 16 JULY 1945. AFTER A SHORT STAY IN TOKYO BAY 28 OCTOBER TO 1 NOVEMBER 1945. SAILED FOR BOSTON ARRIVING ON 5 DECEMBER 1945. TRANSFERRED ON 6 DECEMBER 1945 TO GREAT LAKES, ILLINOIS FOR DISCHARGE. RATING OF SEAMAN SECOND CLASS.
