Enlisted on 18 March 1941 at Fort Des Moines, Iowa. Served with the 33rd Infantry Division "Golden Cross" 108th Engineer Combat Battalion Company A. In the Pacific Theater of Operations. Arrived in New Guinea on 11 May 1944. Landed at Lingayen Gulf, Luzon on 10 February 1945. Landed on Honshu Island, Japan on 25 September 1945 for occupation duties. Awarded the Distinguished unit citation for outstanding performance of duty in action against the enemy in northern Luzon, Philippines.
