This article was found in a scrapbook, and seems to be from 1930, by the dates given in the text.

"Sunday, October 26th there was a good audience assembled to assist in the re-dedication of the Orangeville M.E. church. The old church had stood with few repairs for 78 years. It was erected in 1852, and stands today as perpendicular as when erected. A year ago it was thought best to make a basement the full size of the church and a committee was appointed, consisting of B.S. ALLEN, Thomas CLEVELAND and Fred L. SHIRLEY to take charge of the plans. A basement of cement blocks, eight feet high was erected and the church was moved onto a foundation. A chimney was built in the basement, and a fine fireplace with old fashioned dogirons was installed. The basement now furnishes a much needed room for farmers institutes and church socials. A corner entrance was added to the church and a large memorial window was put in which filled the space of the double doors. Six new memorial windows were put in taking the place of the old windows, a memorial window, in memory of Dr. John A. RITTER Sr., and wife was a gift of their children; one in memory of the sainted mother of Judge and George BUSKIRK was the gift of her son George, who was born in Orangeville. Dr. W.P. HOBBS' children and grandchildren gave a memorial window in memory of their father and mother. Dr. HOBBS was the first merchant in Orangeville, also one of the first trustees in this church. Geo. CARTER, only son of Dr. T.P. CARTER and Mary HARDESTY CARTER also presented the church with a window. The children of L.P. BROWN and Harriot RITTER BROWN gave one in memory of their parents. The double front window in memory of Rev. Samuel HICKS, Elza Lee HICKS, Harry DENNY, and Margaret Lee DENNEY, is the gift of F.L. SHIRLEY, Nelle SHIRLEY LEWIS, and N.F. DENNEY. The Orangeville church very kindly remembered Rev. N.F. DENNY and wife by presenting a window in memory of them. Rev. A.M. COUCHMAN, of Indianapolis, preached the dedication sermon and the people responded liberally in a financial way. A fine dinner was served in the basement and after a social hour Rev. COUCHMAN preached again. Folllowing this the church was re-dedicated by Rev. N.F. DENNY assisted by the pastor, Rev. A. H. RUMBLEY. The following friends from a distance were present: From Indianapolis, George A. BUSKIRK and wife, Fred BUSKIRK and wife, Fred CASEY and wife, Charlie CLARK, John CLARK and another brother and their families. Fred CASEY and the CLARK brothers are grandsons of Dr. HOBBS, F.O.
