Thomas married (MRIN:2) Betty Lou MCCOY-6, daughter of Elbert Russel MCCOY-215 and Jesse Margarette DIXON-216 (MRIN:46) on 2 Feb 1946 in Orleans, Orange Co., Indiana. Betty was born 26 May 1927 in Orleans, Orange Co., Indiana.

Second Generation

2. Paul Revere MCCART-8 was born 12 May 1891 in Orange Co., Indiana. He died 27 Jun 1968 in Orleans, Orange Co., Indiana and was buried in Bethel Cemetary, Orange Co., Indiana. Paul married Ora May TOLBERT-9 on 22 Mar 1912 in Orange Co., Indiana (MRIN:3). Paul was raised and lived on the original 80 acre farm settled by Pleasant McCart.Paul helped co-write the first McCart history with his two cousins Ralph Davison and Earl McCart. Paul Revere McCart was my grandfather and the reason I found the need to continue his work on searching out our roots and family history.

Third Generation

4. Thomas Colfax MCCART-19 was born 17 Jun 1868 in Orangeville, Orange Co., Indiana. He died 19 Jul 1920 in Orange Co., Indiana and was buried in Bethel Cemetary, Orange Co., Indiana. Thomas married Nancy (Nannie) J. CHAILLAUX-20 on 25 May 1890 in Orange Co., Indiana (MRIN:4). Thomas Colfax McCart was inducted into the I.O.O.F. Orange Lodge No.113 between 1889 & 1890.He moved his membership to the Orleans Lodge 296.He was also a member of the Unamis Tribe of the Improved Order of Red Men, No.465 of Georgia. Georgia was a small town near Mitchel, Indiana. It no longer exist but I have a old picture of the main street.Obituary by N.F. Denny. He died after a long bout with leukemia.

5. Nancy (Nannie) J. CHAILLAUX-20 was born 5 Apr 1859 in Orange Co., Indiana. She died 28 Aug 1920 in Orange Co., Indiana and was buried in Bethel Cemetary, Orange Co., Indiana. Nannie's father was Lewis Chaillaux a early pioneer of Orange County.He owned a wet stone manufacturing company and shipped all over the world.I visited the remains of this location when I was a small child, it was run down and overgrown with vegitation, but a great hideout for a kid. My cousin now owns the property. BURIAL: Info from obituary in news paper.

6. George Frank TOLBERT-180 was born 10 May 1866 in Lawrence Co., Indiana. He died 5 May 1941 in West Baden Spngs, Orange Co., Indiana and was buried in Bonds Chapel, Orange Co., Indiana. George married Mary Jane WHITTINGTON-181 on 11 Dec 1888 (MRIN:33).

7. Mary Jane WHITTINGTON-181 was born 1861. She died 31 Dec 1946 and was buried in Bonds Cemetery, Indiana.

Fourth Generation

8. Thomas Blackwell MCCART-21 was born 1844. He died 1895. Thomas married Martha J. "Mattie" WALDRIP-22 on 9 Apr 1867 in Orange County, Indiana (MRIN:5). Served in the war of the rebellion or Civil War with the 25th Indiana Regiment Co.B

9. Martha J. "Mattie" WALDRIP-22 was born 1847. She died 1908.

10. Louis Jules CHAILLAUX-241 was born 25 Apr 1832 in Paris, France. He died 23 Mar 1892 in Orleans, Orange County, Indiana and was buried Mar 1892 in Bethel Cemetary, Orleans, Orange County, Indiana. Louis married Alice J. CARROLL-242 (MRIN:51). Visited grave site in 1993.

11. Alice J. CARROLL-242 was born 4 Jul 1833. She died 22 Nov 1899 in Orleans, Orange County, Indiana and was buried Nov 1899 in Bethel Cemetary, Orleans, Orange County, Indiana. Visited cemetary 1993.

12. Shadrack TOLBERT-226 was born 26 Mar 1844 in Northwest Twp., Orange Co., Indiana. He died 21 Jan 1928 in Orleans, Orange Co., Indiana and was buried in Bonds Chapel, Orange Co., Indiana. Shadrack married Albertine SINK-227 on 15 Apr 1865 in Winston Salem, N.C. (MRIN:49). I visited grave site on 3 June 1993. Fought with 81st Indiana attached to Company M, Ohio Calvary during the Civil War. VETRAN: News Paper obituary says he enlisted for Civil War service as a young lad. OCCUPATION: Shadrack was a farmer and owned one of the first horse powered threshing machines in Orange County. He was a member of the order of F. and A.M. for over 40 years. DEATH: Funeral services held at Bonds Chaple 22 Jan by Rev. J.S. Godwin.

13. Albertine SINK-227 was born 23 Aug 1845 in Winston Salem, North Carolina. She died 4 Jul 1925 in Orleans, Orange Co., Indiana and was buried in Bonds Chapel Cem, .Orange Co., Indiana. Buried beside Shadrack in Bonds Chapel, 3 June 1993, she had been a member there for more than 50 years.This from original obituary in news paper.

14. James Rankin WHITTINGTON-187 was born 29 Mar 1839 in North Carolina. He died 9 Apr 1927 in Northwest Twp., Orange Co., Indiana and was buried in Bonds Chapel, Orange Co., Indiana. James married Nancy Delitha JONES-188 on Sep 1857 (MRIN:34). BIOGRAPHY: Served during the Civil War Company G, 49th Indiana.He served under Captain John A. Ritter's in Co. G.At his death only two members of his unit still survived, Judge T.B. Buskirk of Paoli and William C. Shirley of Orleans.Mr. Shirley presented James' wife with a flag with the staff engraved with the names of Buskirk and Shirley Co. G 49th Indiana Volunteers.

15. Nancy Delitha JONES-188 was born 7 Mar 1835. She died 22 Jan 1931 and was buried in Bonds Cem., Orange Co., Indiana. Nancy's Grandmother was Ethan Allen's sister.

Fifth Generation

16. Pleasant MCCART-26 was born Apr 1807 in Winchester, Clark Co., Kentucky. He died 31 Dec 1885 in Northwest Twp., Orange Co., Indiana and was buried in Bruners Cem.. Pleasant married Lucy LEE-27 on 21 Jul 1833 in Orange Co., Indiana (MRIN:6). Pleasant was the 7th son of William H.McCart of Kentucky.Pleasant & his brother John left Kentucky for Indiana around 1828.Pleasant was married twice,first to Lucy Lee(born Indiana 1816)They married 21 July 1833.Pleasant & Lucy had seven children.Pleasant had 4 sons & a step son,John Cavanaugh serve in the Union Army.Second wife after Lucy died was Rachel Cavanaugh born 1820. June 3,1993: I just returned from Orange County,Indiana with much new information. I went to Pleasants grave site located in Bruners Cemetery.It was a short distance from Bonds Chapel.It was overgrown and in poor care, many of our line are buried there.Besides Pleasant were his wives Lucy Lee & Rachel Cavanaugh,a wife on each side. Bruners Cemetery is on the Orange & Lawrence County lines.

17. Lucy LEE-27 was born 1815 in Indiana. She died 1852 and was buried in Bruner Cemetery, Lawrence County, Indiana. I varified grave site on 3 June 1993, shown to me by Mark Williams my 1st cousin. Mark lives on Alpha Chaillaux's home site.

32. William H. MCCART-42 was born about 1775 in Pennsylvania. He died in Orange Co., Indiana and was buried in McKnight/Picket, Orleans, Orange County, Indiana. William H.McCart's parents moved from Virginia to Pennsylvania before the Revolutionary War.They all then migrated to Kentucky.William H.McCart fought in the War of 1812 as a private under Captain James Dudley's Kentucky Militia,commanded by Colonel John Francisco.William H. was honorably discharged on March 17,1815 at Urbana Ohio.This was on their march to Michigan when orders came down to march home and disband because a peace treaty had been signed with Great Britain on Mar.17,1815 and ratified on feb.17,1815.William H. also had a brother who fought in the War of 1812 Robert from Tennessee. William H.now in Clark Co.Kentucky had two sons go to Indiana to scout for new land.This was Pleasant and John who stayed the winter near Orleans in two limestone caves.While there Pleasant & John built cabins on an 80 acre tract they settled.They returned to Kentucky in the spring to get the rest of the family and moved to Indiana around 1828. William H.McCart,son of Henry O.McCart was the father of at least 16 children. Buried in old McKnight/Picket Cemetary which was located on N.W.corner of corn field on the Frost farm south of Orleans. Clara Frost was my 1st grade teacher. I visited with her in January of 1994.Cemetary has long since been plowed.1803 Kentucky tax list 137 acres on Howard Creek,Ky. BIOGRAPHY: Clark County, Ky. tax list dated 16 August 1800. Listed on 1810 census in Clark County, Kentucky with family of 9.

Seventh Generation

64. Henry O. MCCART-401 was born about 1758 in Virginia. He died 1829 in MOrgan Co., Tennessee. Henry O.McCart inlisted in the 12th Pennsylvania Regiment on 5 Nov 1776.This regiment was commanded by Col.William Cook.The company commander was Capt.John Harris.Henry was with Capt.Hawkins Boone at Valley Fordge with the 11th Virginia Regiment commanded by Col.Daniel Morgan.The 12th Pa.Reg.was called upon to help form the Morgan Rifle Command. Henry O.is listed in the 1800 & 1810 census of Clark County,Kentucky.

Eighth Generation

128. James MCCART-2486 was born in Ireland. He married Mary O'BYRNS-2487 in Dublin, Ireland (MRIN:799). Davidson Book)Left Dublin,Ireland in 1756 for America. Arrived Jamestown Colony in September 1756. James and Mary lived in the Jamestown vicinity for about 12 years before pushing deeper into the wilderness.
