David and Elizabeth Finley gift to Samuel Finley, quarter section of land [160 acres], 15 August, 1817, Orange County, IN DB A:72.

This Indenture made this 15 day of August in the Year one thousand eight hundred and seventeen, Between David Finley and Elizabeth is wife of the County of Orange and State of Indiana of the one part and Samuel Finley of the same place of the other part Witnesseth that the said David Finley for and in consideration of the Love & good will which we bear to our son Samuel Findley have given and granted & by these presents doth freely clearly & absolutely give, grant, convey & confirm unto the said Samuel Findley the South East Quarter of the Section of Land Numbered two in Range No. one East & Township No. two North. To have and to hold, the said Quarter Section of Land & every part & parcel thereof, with the appurtenances unto the said Samuel Findley his heirs & assigns forever, free & clear, from all incumberances & claims whatsoever. In testimony whereof we the said David & Elizabeth Findley have hereunto set our hands & affixed our seals, the day & year first above written.

This day David Finley and his wife came personally before me Edward Millis one of the Justices of the Peace in and for said County and acknowledged the within Deed of Conveyance to Samuel Finley to be their Act and Deed the said Elizabeth Finley being examined separate and apart from her said husband declared that freely relinquished her right and title of dower in and to the Land therein consigned Given under my hand and seal.
