. Nathaniel Robbins my ggg grandfather arrived in Orange Co. with his wife Elizabeth Briner from PA abt 1818-1820. I descend from his son David Robbins b. 1812 who married Arrianna Gillum daughter of John Gillum. My family notes kept by Arrianna Gillum state "I married David Robbins Jan 22, 1835. I lived in North Carolina until about 1828 when my parents moved to Indiana where they lived until the Blessed Savior released their spirits from the clay..."
David and Arrianna Gillum had several children, one of them David Taylor Robbins who was a teacher in Paoli. He wrote in my family notes: "A few of my students went together and with their pennies saved, subscribed for the "Zion's Watchman" magazine for me, as they knew I liked it. Those who did that, that Christmas were:Rufus, Naomi, Ettie, Oscar, Laura, Ida, and Chlora Pinnick; Belle, Irelin, Lottie and LeRoy Hatfield; also Emma and Ratio Pinnick overlooked; Florence and Alfred Able; Emma Denny; John and Gladys Wilson; John and M. Morgan; Perry Monroe; Anna Holt; Elvet Wilson; Flora Walker; Eddie Minton; Mary Ritter and Mary Pruett.... Those were precious days as I look back now that I am retired, and miss the little faces of my dear students.
