Another Veteran Gone
One by one the veterans of the civil war are answering the final roll call, the last to pass away in this city being
William Schuler, who died at his residence in the south part of town, at 8:20 last Friday evening, of heart failure,
aged 66 years. Deceased served during the war of the rebellion in the 30th Indiana regiment. Wm. Schuler was born in
Pennsylvania 9 August 1833. He was married three times, the first marriage occurring 6 Oct 1859, his wife's maiden name
being Lurania Hix. To this union was born one son, Edward, who died 13 April 1861, his mother following 7 May 1861. 28
December, 1862, he was united in marriage with Cassie Fields, who died 27 May 1864. 29 November 1866 he married Lucinda
Littlejohn, who survives him. To this union was born two daughters, Malissa Catharine, who died 28 June 1870, and Oria
Alice, who is now Mrs. E. S. Palmer. Deceased was quiet and unassuming; a model citizen; a loving husband; a considerate
father and an obliging neighbor. The remains were taken to Bethsaida church in Owen county, where the funeral services
were held at 10 o'clock Sunday morning, in the presence of a large concourse of sorrowing friends.

Obituary Schuler
Lucinda Fiscus, daughter of Daniel and Vicci Ficus, was born in Owen Co., Ind., 26 Feb 1834, died 29 April 1918
at the age of 84 yrs., two months and three days.
About 1852 she was married to Geo. W. Littlejohn. To this union were born two daughters and one son. After only a few
years of wedded life, death visited their home taking one daughter Susana and in nine days taking their son,
William H. and within three months taking the husband, leaving her with one daughter Mary Elizabeth who died
1879.
In 1867 she was married to Wm. H. Schuler who died 18 Aug 1899. To this union were born two daughters,
Malisia Catheryn and died 28 June 1870, and Mrs. Ora A. Palmer. She was the foster mother of Edward Schuler
of Indianapolis.
They moved from Owen Co., Indiana to Worthington in 1874 and where she lived to the time of her death.
She united with the Christian church when young and while she was not able to attend services the last few years, she
still lived in that faith.
She leaves on daughter Mrs. Ora. A. Palmer, four grand-children.
The funeral was held at the family residence on South Commercial st., Wednesday at 2:00 pm conducted by Rev. Reagon
of Coal City, assisted by Rev. Dungan. Music was furnished by members of the Christian Church of this place.
Burial in the Bush Cemetery.

I descend from Lovina Schuler, daughter of William and Elizabeth (Nice) Schuler, who married Jacob Priest in 1849 in
Wayne Co., Ohio and lived in Decatur, MI until she died in 1904.
