Gives Father Custody

Owen Leader, July 5, 1939

Judge Rogers came down from his bench Tuesday morning -- and in fact came clear down to the lobby of the lower level -- to hear the case involving the custody of the children of Davy and Marie Minnick, and gave the father the custody. Mr. Minnick has been ill for some time and is confined to a wheel chair. For this reason the Judge came downstairs to hear the case. Minnick and his wife are divorced and she has since re-married. Judge Rogers cited the law in the matter which provides that the father shall have the custody of children unless it be shown he is unfit to care for them.

Their mother may visit them and may have them in her home, during summer vacation for short visits and also at Holiday time if she cares to do so. Otherwise they are to be in the care of their father.
