   This indenture made this fourteenth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand and eight hundred and thirty four between William Major and Mary his wife of the county of ... and State of Indiana by their Attorney James Nesmith of the one part and Michael Wilkins of the county of Parke and state aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said party of the first part by their attorney aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars to them in hand paid through their attorney aforesaid by the said party of the second part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and the party of the first part being fully satisfied and conveyed hath granted bargained sold conveyed and confirmed and by these presents doth sell convey and confirm unto the said Michael Wilkins to his heirs and assigns forever the following described lot in the Town of Montezuma in the county aforesaid towit lot number one hundred and forty eight as recorded on the plat of said town together with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging.  To have and to hold the aforesaid lot and appurtenances hereby conveyed unto the said Michael Wilkins to him his heirs and assigns forever and the said party of the first for themselves their heirs executors and administrators do and will warrant and forever defend the said in lot with the appurtenances herein and hereby conveyed to the said Michael to him his heirs and assigns forever against the lawful claim or claims of all and every other person or persons whomever.  In testimony whereof they have hereunto by their attorney as aforesaid set their hands and seals the day and year above written.

            This is a deed to supply the place of one heretofore made for the same lot and is said to have been burned in the clerks office in Rockville at the time the said office was consumed by fire.

            State of Indiana Parke County.  Be it remembered that on this day the 14th day of May A.D. 1834.  Personally appeared before me the subscriber a justice of the peace for said county James Nesmith Attorney in fact for the within named grantor and acknowledged that he made and signed the ... deed for the uses and purposes therein expressed.
