This Indenture, made and entered into this
fourteenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and forty Eight by and between Solomon Jessup and Hannah Jessup his wife of the
County of Buchanan and State of Missouri of the first part and George Wilkins
of Parke County and State of Indiana of the second part, Witnesseth that the
said party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of one
thousand eight hundred dollars to them in hand paid the receipt whereof is
hereby acknowledged hath given granted bargained and sold and by these presents
do give grant bargain sell alien convey and confirm unto the said party of the
second part and to his heirs and assigns forever, three certain tracts pieces
or parcels of land lying and being in the County of Parke and State of
Indiana. The West half of the South West
quarter of section twenty one, township seventeen range Seven (west) Also the West half
of the South East quarter of section twenty township seventeen Range Seven;
Also the South East quarter of the South East quarter of section twenty
township seventeen Range Seven containing in all two hundred acres according to
the government survey.
To have and to hold the said tracts or
parcels of land with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise
appertaining to the only proper use, benefit and behalf of him the said party
of the second part, and to his heirs and assigns forever; and the said parties
of the first part for themselves their heirs executors and administrators
covenant and agree to and with the said party of the second part, and his heirs
and assigns the said tract piece or parcel of land and bargained premises and every
part and parcel thereof unto him the said party of the second part and to his
heirs and assigns against a manner of claims they will warrant and forever
defend by these presents.
In witness thereof the said Solomon Jessup
and Hannah Jessup parties of the first part have hereunto set their hand and
