Richard Overton, 76, formerly of New Harmony, Ind., died April 28, 2012, in Massillon, Ohio.

Richard was born in New Harmony, Ind., on November 7, 1935, to the late Earl and Frances (Owens) Overton.

After graduating for High School he enlisted in the U.S. Army.

He retired from Waste Management after many years. He enjoyed fishing, art, sports, watching nephews play sports and casinos.

Surviving Richard are two daughters, Amberly Cole of Omaha, Neb., and Kandle Overton of Sacramento, Calif., a sister Marcella Messner of Brush Prairie, Wash., four grandchildren Sarah Maxwell, Surina Wang, Michael Cole and Garin Haycock, three great grandchildren, Jayden and Gavin Vanornam and Makayla Wang, his ex wife, Tammy Overton, three nephews, Ethan Messner, Mitch and Clay Shirey and a niece Jennifer Clark.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert Overton and a nephew, Jeremy Clifford.

Private graveside services were held at Maple Hill Cemetery, in New Harmony, on Sat., Nov. 3, 2012.
