Vernice "Vern" L. Curtis, 77, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at Deaconess Gateway.

 

He was born April 29, 1935, to the late Isaac and Edith (Kern) Curtis.

He retired from Sigeco (Vectren) after 35 years of service. He was a member of Mason Reed Lodge 316, Hadi Shrine, Scottish Rite, Sword of Bunker Hill, Hadi Motor Patrol and was a driver for the Hadi Shriners Hospital. He enjoyed bowling and bowled for the Hadi Shrine and Sigeco Mixed Bowling Leagues.

Vern was preceded in death by his wife, Judy, in April 2012; and brothers, Delbert, Harold K. and Malcolm "Benny" Curtis.

He is survived by his daughters, Mary Ann (John) Wilson and Terri (Rob) Goings, both of Evansville; grandchildren, Jamie (Cregg) Stambush, Alisha (Nick) Crowley, Leslie (Jarad) Lear and Kelli Goings; great-grandchildren, Hailey Lukeman, Emma and Karlie Lear and Dayne Sexton; sister, Maxine Romick of Ashland, KY; nieces and nephews; and beloved dog, Patches.

Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. Troy Dekemper, with burial in Bellefontaine Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.

 

Friends may visit Friday from 2:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home, with a Masonic Service by Reed Masonic Lodge at 7:00 PM.
