She was born on September 26, 1934, to Norman and Madge (Maddox) Mathews in Posey County.

Anita was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School’s Class of 1952. She was a retired customer service representative for General Electric Plastics in Mount Vernon, Ind. Prior to that she worked for Babcock and Wilcox; and more recently she worked part-time as The Candy Lady at Harrison High School.

She is survived by son, Kenneth Matthew (JoDee) Curtis; daughter, Cynthia Curtis; brother, Elwood (Nancy) Mathews; sisters, Phyllis Arias and Helen (Gene) Wasson; grandchildren, Keeli Curtis, Kip Curtis and Kyle Curtis; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Morgan.
Per her request she will be cremated; she did not want a formal service of any type. Private family services were held in
Carmel, Ind.; we encourage family and friends to honor her as you see fit.

We also wish to thank those who took care of her over the years including St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville; and Riverwalk Commons and Riverview Hospital, both in Noblesville.
