Frances Wehr, 87, of Mt. Vernon, passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.

 

She was born in Evansville, IN on September 19, 1925 to Edward and Olivia (Schnur) Kuester.

 

Frances owned and operated Wehr’s Flower shop and Greenhouse from 1953 until 2011. She was a 1942 graduate of F.J. Reitz High School and then went on to graduate from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in 1945 as a Registered Nurse. Frances was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church where she was involved in many church functions, groups, and activities. She belonged to Tri Kappa, Greater Mt. Vernon Association, Business and Professional Women’s Association, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to play cards, especially bridge. Frances was an avid IU basketball fan. Above all she loved and enjoyed time with her friends and family.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred “Dutch” Wehr; granddaughter, Whitney Anne Wehr; brothers, Eddie, Paul, Clyde, and Oscar Kuester; sister, Mary Ann Blunk; nephew, Robert Sullivan; brothers in law, Gilbert Wehr and Bob Sullivan; sisters in law, Mary Sullivan, Gertrude Kuester and Ann Kuester.

 

Frances is survived by her children, Kathleen (Mike) Stucki of Evansville, Jennifer (John) Bohleber, Gregory (Bridget) Wehr, Bruce (Jeanne) Wehr, all of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren, Betsy (Mike) Collins, Benjamin (Courtney) Bohleber, Donald (Julie) Stucki, Michael Stucki, Mallory Wehr; great grandchildren; Maggie, Will, and Ari Collins, Johnny and Janie Bohleber, Owen Stucki; nephews, Ken Kuester, John and Don Sullivan; nieces, Shirley McDowell and Mary Bracey.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at St. Matthew Catholic Church 421 Mulberry St. in Mt. Vernon with Fr. James Sauer officiating and burial to follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Schneider Funeral Home 512 Main St. in Mt. Vernon. There will be a prayer service held at 7:00 pm.
