Mora (Aldrich) Burris, 93, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at her home.

 

She was born November 7, 1919, in Mt. Vernon, IN, to Albert and Elsie Aldrich.

She graduated from
Mt. Vernon High School and Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN, after which she taught at Walker School in Savah. She was a 50 year member of the former St. James East Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, visited shut-ins and was a member of the Trinity Sunday School class. Mora later joined Aldersgate United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School class. She was a 50 year member of the Sinawik Club, and former member of Rolling Hills Country Club and Petroleum Club.

Mora was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Gene Burris, in 1992; and sister, Orrie Culley in 1980.

Mora is survived by her son, Steve Burris (Mary Ann) of Mt. Vernon; cousins, Paul Maurer (Judy), Tammy Weatherford (Mike), Savannah Weatherford, Hadley Weatherford, and Mark Crumpton; nephews, Mike Burris and Kent Burris; and nieces, Kathy Culley, Joyce Culley, and Nancy English.

Services will be
2:00 PM, Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. Mitch Gieselman, with entombment at Oak Hill Mausoleum.

 

Friends may visit 12:30 PM until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
