Emily Kathryn Mason, 72, a lifelong Mt. Vernon resident, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Deaconess Hospice Care Center in Evansville.

Emily was a 1958 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. She retired from the Metropolitan School District of Mt. Vernon in 1999, after 28 years as secretary of Marrs Elementary School. Emily was a member of Bible Center Cathedral in Evansville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Louis C. and Frieda E. Uhde; brothers, William L. and Walter L. Uhde.

Emily is survived by her husband of 54 years, Arby Ray Mason; son, Timothy Mason of Mt. Vernon; daughter and son in law, Tamara and Rusty Counts of Huntsville, AL; step grandson, Nathan of Colorado Springs, CO; and her brother, Charles K. Uhde of Mt. Vernon.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, April 8, 2013 at Schneider Funeral Home 512 Main St. in Mt. Vernon with burial to follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at the funeral home and continued from 12:00 pm until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
