Kenneth “Kenny” Everett Alldredge, 83, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Mt. Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

 

He was born September 3, 1929 in Posey County, IN to Enoch and Addie (Dickens) Alldredge.

 

Kenny was a longtime member of First Christian Church where he served as a past Deacon. He was an Army veteran. He was the founder of DLK Painting and continued to paint throughout the remainder of his life. Kenny retired in 1991 after 17 years with General Electric and had previously worked at Whirlpool for 11 years. He was a member of the American Legion Owen Dunn Post #5, VFW, and belonged to the McDonald’s Coffee Club.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Linda Sue Hazlett; brother, Doy Alldredge; half brother, Lilburn Alldredge; and half sister, Isabel Guy.

 

Kenny is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruth (Gordon) Alldredge; son, Kenneth Alldredge (Janet); daughters, Monie Gross (Johnny) all of Mt. Vernon; Liana Defur (Steve) New Harmony; 6 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; nieces and nephews; beloved dog Jewell; good friends, Sonny Clark and Gary Rowe.
