Nellie Mae Cole, 78, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013 at New Harmonie Health Care.

 

She was born on November 30, 1934 in Posey County to Herman and Pearl (Phillips) Brakie.

 

She was an employee of MSD of Mt. Vernon, retiring in 2001 from Farmersville Elementary School cafeteria. She was a member of Olive Chapel United Methodist Church and attended Pilgrim Holiness Church and enjoyed gardening, working puzzles, and collecting glassware.

Nellie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Douglas Cole; son, David Cole; brothers, Kenneth and Eugene Brakie, and sister, Thelma Turner.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Tammie Cole Pruiett and fiancé Jason Vaughn; granddaughter, Cassie Pruiett; sisters, Lorene Brakie and Irene Brakie; sisters-in-law, Faye Cole, Susan Cole, and Sue Brakie; nephews, Danny, Rodney, and Jesse Cole, and Toby, Brandon, and Daniel Brakie; nieces, Donna Allyn, Becky DeBaille, Melinda Brakie and Leyette Hawkins; as well as other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

Services will be held at 11:30 am Tuesday June 11, 2013 at Schneider Funeral Home 512 Main St. in Mt. Vernon with Rev. Ron Myers officiating and burial to follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday at the funeral home.
