Marvin John Seifert, 90, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Friday, June 7, 2013 at VNA Plus Charlier Hospice Center in Evansville.

 

He was born on April 17, 1923 in Caborn, IN to John and Lela (Wulf) Seifert.

 

Marvin was a member of the Tri-State Youth for Christ and a charter member of the Marrs Township Fire Department. He enjoyed flower gardening and woodworking and has been a lifelong farmer. He attended Bethel Temple and was a member of St. James West United Methodist Church. Marvin had been a bus driver for Triple T and also for Bethel Temple.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Leslie Seifert; sisters, Elvera Pfeiffer and Melinda Schroeder.

 

Marvin is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elsie (Hagan) Seifert; son, Philip (Helen) Seifert; sister, Shirley (Leroy) Bauer; three grandchildren, Jeremy Seifert, Audrey (Ryan) Roling, and Emily Seifert; four great grandchildren, Nathan and Bennett Roling, and Ashlyn and Paisley Seifert; and many nieces and nephews.

 

Services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, June 10, 2013 at Schneider Funeral Home 512 Main St. in Mt. Vernon with burial to follow in St. John’s Cemetery - Caborn.

 

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at the funeral home.
