Elsie Marie “Peggy” Suits, 89, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013 at her home in Mt. Vernon.

She was born on July 27, 1923 in Livingston, KY to Charles and Louella (Kimsey) Belt.

She had worked at the Friendly Café and had also managed the Dollar General Store for over 15 years, both in Mt.Vernon. Elsie was a long time member of the Mt. Vernon General Baptist Church and loved to crochet and garden.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Miles “Harold” Suits; sisters, Louisa, Geneva, Helen, and Jimmie, and brother, Charles.

She is survived by her sons, Norris (Beverly) Suits, Ronald (Madlyn) Suits, Gary (Bonnie) Suits; nine grandchildren; Gary R. Suits, Aletha Thomas, Sean Suits, Michael Suits, Steve Sullivan, Robin Johns, Betty Stevens, Brent and Shane Suits; 17 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren; half sister, Cindy; half brothers, Harlan, Deon, Jerry, and Ricky; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday June 14, 2013 at Schneider Funeral Home 512 Main St. in Mt. Vernon with Rev. Matt Watson officiating and burial to follow in Black Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm service time Friday at the funeral home.
