ANNA PENTECOST ABBOTT

Mrs. Anna Pentecost Abbott, 85, a native of Mt. Vernon and a former local school teacher, died Monday (28 Sep 1953) afternoon in Kansas City, MO., where she resided.  She was the widow of Abbon Abbott, also a native of Mt. Vernon, who died several years ago in Kansas City.
 
The body is at the Freeman Mortuary in Kansas City.  Funeral rites and burial will be in Kansas City.
 
A coronary occlusion caused Mr. Abbott's death.
 
A daughter, Miss Martha Abbott, an art teacher in Kansas City East High school, is the nearest surviving relative.
 
Mrs. Abbott was a member of a well-known early Mt. Vernon family.  Her parents were Fieldon Archer Pentecost and Virginia (Jennie) Pentecost.
 
She was graduated from Mt. Vernon High school and later taught in Mt. Vernon schools.  Her church affiliation locally was with St. John's Episcopal Church and she was a member of an Episcopal Church in Kansas City during her residence there.
 
Mr. and Mrs. Abbott resided in Mt. Vernon for several years following their marriage, moving from here to Chicago.  They resided in St. Louis prior to going to Kansas City.
 
Mrs C. H. Fullinwider and Mrs. Jennie L. Wade, Mt. Vernon, are cousins of the late deceased.
